South Kohala Steering Committee Member Criteria
The steering committee works with County and keeps working groups on track
- Willing and able to make 18-24 month commitment, meeting once a month or 6-8 hours or more.
- Reflects demographic of our community: age, gender, diversity of culture, worklife, education, etc.
- Willing and able to let go of personal agenda and represent community needs and wants. Dedicated to community and able to see the big picture.
- Strong communicator, interpret needs of community to county. Serves as a conduit.
- Strong problem solving skills. Open to using ho’oponopono for problem resolution.
- Optimistic/Positive approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a group setting.
- Willing to be a member of a working group.
- History of Kohala community involvement.
- Current community involvement.
- Community (local) references.
- Spirit of Aloha – willing to represent Kohala.
Expectations of Steering Committee Members
- Willing to work towards win/win decisions.
- Willing and able to represent the work of the Steering Committee to the community as needed.
- Utilizes community input.
- Always works towards/for the good of South Kohala.
- Leaves ego and personal agenda at the door.
- Works well with County representatives and other resources.
