Description of criteria for CDP Steering Committee members

South Kohala Steering Committee Member Criteria
The steering committee works with County and keeps working groups on track

  1. Willing and able to make 18-24 month commitment, meeting once a month or 6-8 hours or more.
  2. Reflects demographic of our community: age, gender, diversity of culture, worklife, education, etc.
  3. Willing and able to let go of personal agenda and represent community needs and wants. Dedicated to community and able to see the big picture.
  4. Strong communicator, interpret needs of community to county. Serves as a conduit.
  5. Strong problem solving skills.  Open to using ho’oponopono for problem resolution.  
  6. Optimistic/Positive approach.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a group setting.
  8. Willing to be a member of a working group.
  9. History of Kohala community involvement.
  10. Current community involvement.
  11. Community (local) references.
  12. Spirit of Aloha – willing to represent Kohala.


Expectations of Steering Committee Members

  1. Willing to work towards win/win decisions.
  2. Willing and able to represent the work of the Steering Committee to the community as needed.
  3. Utilizes community input.
  4. Always works towards/for the good of South Kohala.
  5. Leaves ego and personal agenda at the door.
  6. Works well with County representatives and other resources.
