Growth Management and Village Centers
A presentation on "land pooling" for Puna subdivisions and beyond
Frank Schnidman, internationally-recognized expert on growth management and land assembly techniques for non-conforming subdivisions, gave a presentation on "Growth Management and Village Centers," focusing on land pooling examples, options and strategies on Thursday, March 29, 7:00 PM, at Kea‘au Elementary School.
A DVD of the complete presentation by Mr. Schindman is available on loan from the County Planning department.
Background
During the community outreach meetings leading to the preparation of
the Puna Community Development Plan (Puna CDP), many residents
expressed interest in various strategies to manage or abate the rapid
development that is occurring in the region’s extensive, non-conforming
subdivisions. Some residents, especially in the more populated
subdivisions, are interested in creating “village centers” to provide
more convenient services for residents.
